What does a private Health MOT include?

A Health MOT is more than a blood test — it's a GP-led check-up with a written action plan. Here's exactly what's included at each level, and how to choose.

A "Health MOT" means different things at different clinics, so it's worth knowing what you're actually getting. At Northwest Health, every MOT combines bloods with a GP assessment and a written action plan — not just a results printout.

The three tiers

Silver — £275. A clinician-led general health review covering core preventative biomarkers: Full Blood Count, kidney and electrolyte profile, bone profile, liver profile, lipid profile, HbA1c (diabetes), and thyroid function. Best for a thorough preventative baseline, a yearly check over 40, or non-specific symptoms like fatigue.

Gold — £325. Everything in Silver plus Free T3, thyroid antibodies, HS-CRP, ferritin, vitamin D, PSA (men) or CA-125 (women), and full urine analysis. Best for investigating fatigue, weight or thyroid symptoms, or where there's a family history of heart disease, diabetes, thyroid disorders or cancer.

Platinum — £600. Everything in Gold plus reproductive hormones, a coeliac screen, and Helicobacter pylori testing. Best for hormonal symptoms, fertility concerns, a strong family history, or anyone wanting a complete baseline.

How it works

A single appointment covers your GP assessment, blood draw and (where included) a urine sample. Samples go to an accredited UK laboratory, and a GMC-registered GP reviews every report, adding written comments that put each value in context. Results are released to you and, with your consent, shared with your NHS GP.

A note on screening markers

PSA, CA-125 and hormone levels are screening markers, not diagnostic tests. They can be raised for non-cancer reasons, and a normal level doesn't rule everything out. Hormone results also vary across the menstrual cycle. Your GP will explain what your specific results do — and don't — mean.

Before you book

Fast for 8–12 hours (water is fine), and morning appointments give the most accurate cholesterol, glucose and testosterone results. If you have new or worrying symptoms, book a GP consultation rather than relying on a health check alone — an MOT screens for common markers of general health, not every possible condition.
