FAQs

Common questions

When can I have the test, and how long do results take?
From 10 weeks of pregnancy (most people test at 10–13 weeks). Results are usually back within 7–10 working days.
Is it safe?
Yes. NIPT analyses placental DNA from your blood, so there is no risk to your pregnancy. It is a screening test, not a diagnostic one.
Can I find out my baby's sex? What about twins?
Fetal sex is optional — you choose to opt in or out. Twin pregnancies are supported for a small surcharge.
What happens if I get a high-chance result?
A high-chance result is not a diagnosis. The next step is usually a diagnostic test (CVS or amniocentesis). We refer you — NHS or private — with counselling and no pressure.
What if the result is unclear?
If a sample doesn't give a clear result, we offer a free repeat test or a refund.
